St Petersburg, Florida: After extensive fundraising in the third quarter, the Tranquil Shores Foundation has accepted its first 3 candidates to receive recovery services. “We are thrilled to be able to scholarship these people who have a strong desire to get sober; all they were lacking was the funds,” says Program Director Michelle Privett. “We’ve had a lot of interest since our inception early this year and thanks to Coach Johnson’s contribution of 20K from Jimmy Johnson’s Championship Fishing Week as well as our successful fundraiser in Tampa in September, we were able to start the funding process.”
The Tranquil Shores Foundation believes that everyone should have access to drug and alcohol educational and recovery services, to that end, The Jimmy Johnson Scholarship Fund, provides resources for education, treatment and housing for those in need in our community.
The three initial candidates were vetted through a joint process with Tranquil Shores Foundation and the facilities that they are attending. Each of them have provided evidence of their need and most importantly, their willingness to get and stay clean and sober.
“This is just the beginning”, says Privett, “we are poised to change the face of addiction in our community and make sure everyone gets the help they need to live a happy ,sober, drug-free existence.”
